Job Description:

  • Ensures efficient and quality production and positive employee relations by complying with all employment policies, rules, regulations, safety procedures, good manufacturing procedures, product protection standards and actively participating in all training requirements.
  • Ensures that production standards are met by efficiently running production equipment.
  • Responsible for monitoring process through LD display gauges and checking against checklist and established procedures. Listen for alarms and lasers to detect problems.
  • Documents each reading on process control sheets, line checks, and reports irregularities to QA and supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures and checklist for start-up, emergency stop, and restart after power or equipment failures.
  • Maintains specifications by:
    • Obtaining and delivering samples for testing to the lab every hour per set procedure.
    • Conducting appearance, break and taste test every hour and discuss evaluation with supervisor.
    • Initiating process changes based on lab feedback.
    • Checks and fill all salters. Checks salt barrels and replaces if full.
  • Inspect and weigh spices and other ingredients to create batch kits that are loaded into barriers and staged for the processing area based on production schedule.  Barriers are taken from kit staging area to the kettles by forklift and pallet-jacks.  
  • Dump ingredients into equipment from staging barrels/batches with equipment lifts.
  • Move barrels by dolly to/from forklift collection area.
  • Cleans floor in back of and under equipment. Remove empty skids, gathers up all trash and take to dumpster.
  • Ensures good manufacturing procedures by following housekeeping and 4S standards.
  • Cleans production line equipment to include wash down at scheduled machine shutdowns by following standard procedures and safety procedures. Complete sanitation duties during machine shutdowns.
  • Set up label machines for operations based on production schedule.
  • Set up and change over filler equipment to ensure a steady flow of jars, bottles and containers continue to run through the filling and capping process to avoid glass breakage, downtime or gaps in the labeling and packaging areas.
  • Set up and change over labeling equipment to ensure jars, bottles and containers are labeled correctly, neatly and precisely. 
  • Ensure containers and cases are properly labeled and tagged.     
  • Report any equipment issues to the Line Leader/Supervisor or a member of the Maintenance Team.
  • Be alert for any product, glass, or date code defects.
  • Properly fill out all paperwork required by QA/Production in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure that all machine guards and all safety switches are in place and in working order on the label machines.
  • Communicate with Maintenance to ensure machines are set up and running properly
  • Additional Tasks:  Contributes to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed. Maintains cooperative relationship with coworkers and management by communicating necessary information, responding to requests, building rapport; and participating in problem solving methods.  Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements. 
  • Relieve and train other operators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
