Job Description:

The Director, Division Commercial Planning & Insights, is accountable for providing division/category expertise for the field sales teams and will provide the strategic linkage between division and field sales. This role will be accountable for delivering planning, support and customer expertise for division/category teams, as well as incorporating the customer perspective into division plans. The Director, Division Commercial Planning & Insights will also identify, analyze, and interprets the consumer, customer, competitive and marketplace studies to provide guidance for key internal stakeholders. Effectively influences company regarding current and future market research trends and initiatives. Serve as a key player in helping insights & analytics and the strategy team influence decisions with rigorous insights that drive results.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provides linkage to divisional & customer perceptive
  • Accountable for the translation between the business unit & field commercial sales strategy
  • Responsible for the bid strategy communication alignment between the business unit and field sales
  • Leads bid meeting, drives to deadline & delivery of selling story support to field sales
  • Ensures delivery of key pricing & RFI materials to Associate Customer Business Managers for customer entry
  • Drives the field sales execution of business unit focused selling initiatives
  • Drives the division execution of aligned key customer initiatives
  • Constructively & creatively drives value added solutions for the business unit and the customer
  • Leads development for the needed customer selling materials behind category selling stories and innovation launches & field sales bulletins; provides General Manager with analytics & SME support
  • Manages the field sales execution product formula changes, count changes and plant transitions
  • Drives MAPS with key customers measuring
  • Manages approved business unit trade budget and works with trade finance
  • Understands the overall customer performance and work with customer leadership for resolutions
  • Determines customer prioritization on sales allocations and aligns with General Manager team
  • Provide single source of truth connecting insights from the field and customer to division leadership
  • Provide subject matter expertise about categories to commercial teams
  • Develop center of excellence for customer and channel-level insights and analytics with consistent approach across customers teams
  • Determine data access requirements (e.g. syndicated, customer basket) to provide internal and external facing analytics
  • Arm customer teams with external-facing insights to support content development for customer-specific meetings / requests (i.e. line review)
  • Arm customer teams (including customer development) with internal-facing insights (i.e. white space and 4P management)
  • Collaborate with analysts, CBMs, and division analysts to convert “category-level” sell-stories into customer-specific sell-stories
  • Define and implement on-going reporting needs for customer teams (i.e. customer performance versus total market)
  • Align with customer team VPs on analyst priorities

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of business experience in sales or related field
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills and effective relationship building skills
  • Excellent business analytical skills – use of data to drive product and pricing strategies, and their impact to production forecasts
  • Solid financial acumen - Understanding of P&L and price implications to optimize customer bid strategies and management of trade funding
  • Strong customer interaction and negotiation skill capabilities
  • Strong project management skills demonstrated problem solving ability, skilled at managing and prioritizing multiple projects; effectively track project progress, communicate project status to stakeholders at varying level of the organization and demonstrated ability to lead projects to completion on time and within budget
  • Strong cross-functional and team coordination skills
  • Creative problem solution abilities; ability to be resourceful to improve long-term customer relationships
  • Capable of building strong internal and external relationships to achieve desired customer outcomes
  • Broker or Key Account Management experience with large or multiple accounts; ability to influence third party partners to achieve profitable results
  • Category Leadership experience
  • Ability to transform insights and analytics into customized strategic account plans for deliver growth
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SharePoint

Education:   Bachelor’s Degree – Type:  Business, Finance, or related field


  • Approximately 20-60% travel to various THS locations, customer appointments, industry events or other job related functions.
