Schedule: 12 hour shift 7:00pm to 7:00am; Weekend availability required

POSITION PURPOSE:

Ensures package quality by performing routine checks and inspections of packages, cartons, skids,

placement of labels and appearance of finished unit. Has thorough knowledge of quality standards

and the ability to enforce them. Is responsible for reporting non-compliances to the packing room

 supervisor for all quality issues. Data entry of partial and complete work orders. This position is responsible for performing of their respective duties in order to meet company expectations in regards to food safety, quality, personal safety, cost, housekeeping and sanitation.  All employees will conduct themselves in a professional and businesslike manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read, write and understand English.  Read and understand production order. Insure that all requirements of the production order are being fulfilled.
  • Ensures that quality standards are met by performing inspections and maintaining set standards of finished product packaging.
    • Performs visual analysis utilizing pre-determined quality standards set for packages, cartons and finished units, i.e. Registration, clarity and correctness of code date, seal integrity, sticker placement, carton label placement and correctness, tape placement/adhesion, carton placement on skid/slip sheet, appearance of filled unit.  
    • Identifies all units not meeting standards and notifies the Team Lead of and quality issues.
    • Performs a quality check on 1 case of each pallet of assigned orders.
    • Ensures all assigned order documentation is recorded correctly.
  • Make case labels as needed.
  • Enter correct order information into SAP.
  • Place SAP pallet stickers on all assigned orders.
  • Ensure that assigned packing stations are set up properly.
    • Ensure the correct carton is at the machine for an upcoming order.
    • Ensure the station is properly staffed.
    • All needed equipment and supplies are at the packing station.
    • Help packers with labeling as needed.
    • Ensure good housekeeping is being performed.

Responsible for communication at shift change. Ensures efficient and quality production and positive employee relations by complying with all employment policies, rules, regulations, safety procedures, good manufacturing procedures, product protection standards and actively participating in all training requirements.

  • Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements

Additional Tasks:  Contributes to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed. Maintains cooperative relationship with coworkers and management by communicating necessary information, responding to requests, building rapport; and participating in problem solving methods.

Job Qualifications

Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:

  • High School, technical school education or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills to input data.
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic telephone etiquette skills.
  • Ability to perform analysis rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to have attention to detail and documentation.
  • Ability to Maintain and Enforce company standards.
  • Ability to work individually or as a team.
  • Mental alertness to identify problem areas through predetermined methods.
  • Ability to interpret, understand and follow detailed procedures.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, taste, and smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
