Job Description:

The Accounts Payable Manager is a manager level accounting position managing the centralized Corporate Accounts Payable Team located in Green Bay, WI. This position will be responsible for leading the Corporate Accounts Payable Team in the areas of invoice transactional processing, payment processing, 1099 and 1042 tax reporting, team leadership and mentoring, AP metric reporting and industry benchmarking.  This position will also be involved with centralizing AP for new locations as needed.  The position will report to the Sr. Manager, Accounts Payable.

This position will be an expert in AP systems, driving system and process changes, and mentoring AP Associates in their area of work.  In addition, this position will assist in leading projects and initiatives and developing policy and procedures.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading the Accounts Payable team in the areas of high volume invoice processing, payment processing, 1099 and 1042 tax reporting and assist in leading other projects and initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Utilize system tools to lead the team inefficient/timely processing
  • Ensure compliance with policy and procedures and SOx controls
  • Manage responses to vendor inquiries to ensure timely resolution
  • Assist with system conversions and consolidations
  • Assist with month-end invoice accruals
  • Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) workplace management and administration
  • Work with Plant Controllers, Procurement, Treasury, and Plant Buyers to optimize the purchase to pay process
  • Provide great customer service to vendors / informal stakeholders
  • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and assist in CI implementations
  • Support Finance transformation and other ad hoc projects
  • Implement new procedures as needed
  • Ad hoc AP projects/tasks as assigned by leadership

Accountable for the day to day performance and development of a team of Accounts Payable Associates.

  • Conduct 30 / 60 / 90-day check-ins with new hires
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with associates
  • Provide timely, constructive coaching and feedback regarding performance to associates
  • Conduct monthly team meetings, one-on-one meetings, huddles, and frequent rounding
  • Build relationships with staff and provide ongoing recognition and motivation for individuals/team
  • Oversee employee engagement and develop improvement plans as applicable
  • Handle performance issues as applicable
  • Provide feedback/coaching/mentoring regarding career development and progression; utilizes development plans
  • Communicate metrics to the team and guide motivation and alignment around achieving results
  • Approve/maintain time cards, including time away
  • Enforce deadlines, set department goals, report on progress to Senior Manager

Responsible for developing and overseeing all new hire onboarding/training and developing and overseeing ongoing training and continuous education for AP associates.

  • Standardize processes across AP and ensure training is provided for consistent processing
  • Provide training and coaching to staff
  • Provide ongoing feedback to associates regarding training adoption / new skill development

Skills, Experience and Education:

 Ability to work with and understand multiple operating platforms. Will possess or will be capable of developing a thorough understanding of SAP.

  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to solve problems while coordinating projects, communicating changes and monitoring progress
  • Effective leadership and employee development skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, for effective interaction with all levels of company personnel
  • Highly motivated, energetic, hands-on
  • Project management experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Masters preferred but not required
  • Five to ten years of progressive accounting and accounts payable experience required.  Prior leadership experience required.
  • Occasional travel to business meetings
