Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing and supervising a group of employees involved in inspection and quality control procedures with regard to purchased material, in-process material, and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved.
  • Plan and assign work of subordinates. Schedule employees as needed for work load. Handle attendance records through Kronos.
  • Make recommendations with regard to procedures, standards, and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Work effectively with Production personnel to ensure quality parameters are met and food safety is not compromised.
  •  Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices.
  • Responsible for compilation, review, and maintenance of inspection reports and records.
  • Investigate and determine cause of faulty work, consult and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.
  • Maintain discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among subordinates.
  • Investigate and adjust personnel problems within area of responsibility. Effectively recommend as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, and terminations.
  • Act as backup to Quality Supervisors on other shifts.
  • Provide necessary training to QA and/or production personnel, as needed.
  • UPDATE dci BOARDS, WITH Customer Complaints, weekly HOLD Summary Report.
  • Assists QA Manager with tasks, as needed.
  • Responsible for QA group in terms of costs (supplies, overtime, budget items), methods and personnel.

Skills, Experience and Education:

 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (List all required):

  • Employee must have knowledge of Inspection and Quality Control methods, techniques and equipment, and knowledge of typical measuring instruments (pH meter for example) and testing procedures.
  • Employee must also have knowledge of computer systems (MS Office programs, SAP, etc.) and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Employee is required to train in General Safety, all standard training for GMPs, allergens, and food defense, and HACCP training.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Type: Food Science

Minimum Experience Preferred (Number of years and type): Bachelor’s Degree

preferred or minimum of three years  experience in Quality Control  in manufacturing  environment.

Travel Requirements: Minimal.
