Job Description:

To support the Quality / Plant Team in ensuring products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of the Company and its customers. To proactively coordinate the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP and audit programs.  Provide sound leadership and support to the plant employees. Assist with the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of quality assurance strategies and programs in all aspects of the production process.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food safety (CFIA, 3rd Party, BRC and customer) audits and mock recalls;
  • Collect samples and assist with completion of tasks in the QA Lab;
  • Perform general lab procedures and other designated QA task, as needed;
  • Maintain and update daily QA and plant reports; ensure accuracy and correctness of data;
  • Work closely with QA Manager and plant management on special projects;
  • Perform other duties assigned or required by QA Manager;
  • Perform routine QA duties as per standard operating procedures:

    Perform daily pre-operational checks and on-line quality operational checks;

    Perform sensory evaluation on incoming raw materials, in-process raw materials and finished good materials;

    Collect retention samples and perform shelf life testing on retention samples;

    Perform operational document verification and follow up on quality incidents;

    Perform sampling for chemical analysis and develop specification on incoming raw materials;

    Perform GMP audit and internal audit;

    Collect quality data on trial runs and verify BOM on new product SKUs;

    Perform environmental micro and sanitation samplings;

    Perform pH meter and weigh scale calibration checks;

    Review HOLD log on a weekly basis and follow up on disposition;

  • Complete corrective action reports and File, organize and archive production and quality records; Perform Process Control verifications e.g. Magnet checks etc.

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, etc.);
  • Basic knowledge in CFIA Manual and HACCP System preferred;
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset;
  • Excellent listening skills;
  • Ability to work in an employee participative team environment;
  • High level of accuracy and a sense of urgency;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
  • Excellent Organizational skills, attention to detail, keen and quick learner;
  • Possess positive attitude and professional approach with the willingness to learn and improve;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team;
  • Ability to get things done with minimal supervision;
  • High level of integrity and work ethic;
