SUMMARY: Assists BPO in coordinating activities of workers engaged in the production of single serve filtered beverages, utilizing knowledge of equipment, procedures, and specifications of production.  Provides direction and support to hourly team members in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, cost, equipment, and engagement.  The position is the first link in the help chain to resolve problems within the work area.  Foster and promote continuous improvement and a positive work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

PRODUCTION

  • Communicate effectively/appropriately with team members, supervisors\BPO and management team.
  • Confers with BPO to receive instructions and exchange production information. 
  • Develops an expertise level to run all equipment on the line including material handling
  • Train employees in standard work practices, procedures for safety, quality, equipment operations, productivity, and efficiency. 
  • Help maintain accurate production records and complete all reports as required by the Company.
  • Support in continuous improvement events, projects and just do its.
  • Monitor team work levels and report issues to BPO
  • Assists in assigning work duties based upon work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel. 
  • Perform activities of team members covering member absences or breaks
  • Monitors production, release work orders as needed, adjusts work assignments, supply of material and machine operation when necessary
  • Maintain area in accordance with 5s and Lean standards to help ensure work areas remain swept, straightened, shiny to achieve operational excellence
  • Have a working knowledge of Manhattan
  • Coordinate with project teams for trial runs
  • Data computer entry, tracking, perform and prepare various clerical duties for production management (for example - detailed reports, meeting notes and notifications).

SAFETY

  • Interpret safety policies/practices to employees including ensuring safe work practices are followed.
  • Perform daily/weekly safety and 5S audits
  • Recommend measures to improve safety, quality of product, methods and equipment performance.

QUALITY

  • Ensure product quality by following standard work and communicating customer specific requirements with team members.
  • Tests random samples of product using various test equipment to verify product meets specifications. 
  • Maintain area in accordance with GMP, BRC and AIB standards.
  • Ensure product quality and sanitation regulations are followed.

MAINTENANCE

  • Help troubleshoot and assist employees in diagnosing malfunctions in work and machine activities
  • Adjusts and repairs various machines using hand tools, power tools and refers extensive machine repairs to maintenance.
  • Assists maintenance in maintaining equipment as needed
  • Maintain area in accordance with TPM standards
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directing, training and coaching 10-20 employees
  • Document team member issues and report to BPO
  • Complete safety incident reporting documents for team members

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively communicate with employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, including decimals and fractions.  Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, computer scanning devices, adjustable measuring instruments.  Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation requires basic skills knowledge.   Proficient in using computer for basic data entry

REASONING ABILITY

 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.  Demonstrate ability to solve problems, analyze systems and data and suggest appropriate solutions. Possess skills to work under stress to meet production deadlines and minute attention to detail. Highly self-motivated individual.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).  Desire to learn and willingness to accept responsibility. Prefer 12 months  and up to and including 3 years of qualifying machine operator experience on related work or including lower level jobs within or outside the company. Prefer 6 months up to 1 year of employee on the job coaching/training experience.
