Job Description:

The Manager, Business Unit GM will be a key member of the Pasta Team and will have P&L responsibility for the Branded Pasta business.  The role is responsible for 1) Defining strategy for the business to meet customer and consumer requirements, establishing a clear vision and growth plan for the business; 2) Achieving the business financial goals as they align to Business Unit goals; 3) Development and execution of Marketing campaigns, as well as other business plans for commercial success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deliver financial, share and operational goals, monitoring performance and working cross functionally to drive corrective action as necessary
  • Participate in creating annual business plans for the business that align with Business Unit and Division strategic priorities and growth objectives
  • Develop annual Marketing campaigns to drive business performance.
  • Leverage and influence the sales organization to manage customer relationships and execute key go-to-market tactics (pricing, merchandising, shelving, and assortment)
  • Work very closely with Sales and Finance to manage financials and drive profitable solutions for growth
  • Assess business opportunities and strong cross-functional leadership to analyze financial, operational, sales impact of opportunity.  Lead opportunities through execution with cross-functional team.
  • Monitor and understand customer and consumer insights, market and competitive data to pro-actively position the business for growth and profitability
  • Partner with R&D to develop closer-in innovation plans to drive short and long term strategic objectives
  • Engage the supply chain organization to insure optimal cost containment and service levels
  • Key contributor to the forecast process to drive accuracy and ensure customer service expectations are met

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5 or more years of Business Experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry.   Prefer Product Management Experience
  • Marketing and Strategy: Possessing breadth of skills: insight identification and implementation,  creating brand distinction, value, customer/consumer demand and portfolio management
  • Experienced brand builder with demonstrated success in business turnarounds and transformations
  • Customer understanding – retail grocery, mass, club
  • Experience developing and define value propositions and go to market strategies (including trade strategy development, evaluation, implementation)
  • Financial & Business Acumen:  Understand causal drivers and interdependencies of the P&L.
    • Demonstrated understanding of business fundamentals including PL management, pricing to help deliver strong financial performance
    • Deliver the plan by managing P&L levers (margin management, operational efficiencies, volume growth, price and merchandising activity) to optimize results and to make trade-offs
    • Anticipate the impact of market activities (Competitors, External) and challenges the organization in problem solving
  • Value Creation: Creating business value, customer/consumer demand and portfolio management
  • Customer understanding – retail grocery, mass, club
  • Experience developing and defining value propositions and go to market strategies (including strategy development, evaluation, implementation)
  • Analytical Thinking:  Identification and evaluation of key business issues, drivers and growth opportunities using a variety of data sources and analytical tools.
  • Challenge and lead the team to effectively analyze short / long term needs of the business
  • Proactively identify category trends and operational issues, and identify strategies/solutions
  • Align cross-functional partners to secure the right resources for business needs
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and incomplete information

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Business or related field & Master’s Degree preferred
