Job Description:

The Director, Broker Management will be the owner of corporate sales agency relationships and management strategy as they relate to the entire Commercial Excellence Organization.   This role will oversee a team of individuals that provide clear communication of all TreeHouse sales plans, communication needs, business tracking and new item expectations to our sales agency partners.  This role will serve as both the internal and external expert in these areas.   In addition, this role will provide additional Customer Development Center of Excellence leadership in the execution and implementation of overarching Customer Development initiatives.  Examples of this could the rollout of consistent customer Terms and Conditions, Annual Trade Shows or the National Front of Pack Requirements (NFPR).   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing, communicating and implementing the Broker strategy
  • Management of a team of Customer Business Managers in the implementation of this strategy
  • Establish the goals, processes and communication with the broker network to support this strategy.
  • Communicate & prioritize strategic division business priorities for customer execution
  • Prioritize and track progress specific customer sales plans and initiatives with either monthly or quarterly review format based on customer size​ (Score carding)
  • Ensures accuracy of broker commission data including rates, rate structure, terms & conditions, incentives, etc.​
  • Interface with Treehouse commercial teams to ensure thorough understanding and implementation of business priorities​
  • Drives single point of contact across TreeHouse enterprise with all brokers​ for contracts & negotiations
  • Aligns with business units on “unique brokers” requirements for specific channels/retailers
  • Manages Top National Brokers and WBS at the Field level​
  • Provide additional leadership and strategy support around THS Center of Excellence projects
    • Examples could include:   Terms and Conditions, NFPR, BioEngineering, Annual Trade Shows

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Solid Experience in Customer facing role with ability to translate to headquarter operations
  • Strong Communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal and presentation.
  • The ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good business acumen, including understanding of basic P&L principles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. Must be independent and self-motivated and able to plan activity to meet project timeline commitments.
  • Sound negotiating skills required to secure new business and to maintain profitable relationships. 
  • Ability to develop recommendations, plans, budgets, and tactics
  • Thorough understanding of pricing, trade promotions and the impact of pricing on volume.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and develop Sales Agency and Distributor personnel while exemplifying leadership behaviors that support organizational development, accountability and foster a positive selling culture
  • Strong bias for action and results
  • Management skills deal take complex projects and synthesize & delegate manageable portions, then reassemble for full execution

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree Required

Preferred Attributes

  • Previous experience working for or managing a sales agency is a plus, but not required

 Working Conditions:

  • Overnight Travel expected up to 25-35%
  • Oak Brook based only
