Job Description:

The Director, Business Unit GM will be responsible for defining and developing the Functional Beverage category within the larger Beverage Division portfolio.  The role is responsible for 1) defining overall strategy for the category, including product portfolio and customer targets, 2) establishing a clear vision and aligning cross-functional stakeholders, 3) Scoping path to production for new product capabilities, 4) Achieving the category financial goals as they align to Division goals; 5) Driving operational efficiencies across the business; and 6) Driving product development and R&D efforts for the category.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business objectives, strategy and tactics for a new and complex business unit, working closely with General Manager and cross functional teams
  • Identify new product opportunities and lead project management of new products/offerings. Coordinate and support project costing, timeline development, material set-up/readiness, scale-up efforts and launch/post launch metrics.
  • Lead innovation/acquisition strategy, including identification of new manufacturing methods or partners and analysis of potential targets
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential contract partners
  • Manage and drive business simplification and cost improvement efforts, including development of CI initiatives.
  • Analyze category data and segments to identify product and competitive strengths and weaknesses, identify growth opportunities and defense strategies as needed. Track competitive efforts and recommend adjustments to changing market conditions.
  • Partner closely with sales to understand key account strategies and identify and implement appropriate category management solutions for optimizing account performance. Work with sales team to develop a roadmap to enter new customers and channels.
  • Help develop annual business review and assist in the development of mid and long-term strategic business planning
  • Maintain and communicate product knowledge library for respective categories
  • Manage several work streams across multiple functions with tight completion timelines
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and must develop materials that translate across a wide range of functional audiences.
  • Ensure proper application of project management tools, stage/gate models and prioritization.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Self-starter with an expert level intellectual curiosity, continuous improvement mindset and learning agility.
  • Demonstrated track record of accomplishing critical objectives in a fast-paced ambiguous working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability defining and executing a growth strategy
  • Creative problem solving abilities required; ability to be resourceful to find solutions.
  • Strong project and influence management skills to lead cross-functional project teams; collaborative leadership style with the ability to effectively handle conflict and employ a systematic approach to finding solutions.
  • Experience leading and coaching
  • Excellent communication skills - both formal and informal with the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • High level understanding of multiple business disciplines (Purchasing, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Logistics, R&D, etc.) in previous positions preferred.
  • Financial acumen – must have experience working with product P&Ls. Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exposure to new product commercialization and start-up procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple, high-profile projects concurrently.
  • Experience with negotiating and developing supplier relationships.
  • Fluent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expertise in syndicated Data (IRI, AC Nielson)
  • Familiarity with SAP and BI a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Business or related field

Master’s Degree Required -- Type: MBA (preferred)

 Working Conditions: 30% travel
