Job Description:

The Director of Enterprise Data Organization is responsible for leading the TreeHouse (THS) administrative function with a mission to manage master data domains across multiple functions including: Governance, Data Quality, Data Standards, Data Strategy, and Data Architecture.  These domains include: Customer, Material, Pricing, Vendor, and Financial objects.  This position will interact with business stakeholders from Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Financial Shared Services Towers as well as other departments across the organization to promote and enforce a strategic data agenda.  The organization has responsibility to control standards, policies, processes, and technologies related to master data.  Additionally, the organization is responsible for leveraging data to help achieve the business’ objectives.   

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Align the Enterprise Data Organization vision and strategy with TreeHouse Food’s strategic vision by translating the businesses overarching strategies into data management policies and actions
  • Measure progress toward business goals by creating clear program metrics, setting a baseline, and linking these metrics to business benefit and data value metrics
  • Ensure accurate master data by creating a formal governance program that identifies and assigns the appropriate business owner of each data field and overall design and strategy for each data domain
    • Specifies the frequency that each data field needs to be reviewed
    • Trains business owners on the create, change, extension, and extinction procedures as well as ensuring these procedures are used accordingly
  • Streamline master data and business organization structures and roles as needed to effectively steward and leverage trusted master data across new and improved business processes
  • Develop and implement consistent global standard THS procedures, processes and policies for creating, changing, reviewing, and extending master data across all THS ERP platforms
  • Develop standardized roles, responsibilities and standard user profiles
  • Work with IT to develop and implement data security processes and procedures
  • Serve as lead authority on data governance for the Customer, Material, Pricing, Vendor, and Finance master data domains in SAP and other systems in the future
  • Identify and assign the appropriate business owner of each data field and set maintenance policies around each
  • Train business owners on the global data definitions for the data fields they own
  • Hold business owners explicitly responsible and accountable for reviewing master data within the specified frequency to ensure it is correct and in accordance with the global standard data definitions
  • Develop, implement, and train business owners in the use of global standard automated workflows to regulate the change, creation, extension and extinction process/procedures so that only approved and accurate data is uploaded, approved and maintained by the appropriate business owners
  • Develop and implement a periodic review of all master, vendor, and customer data to ensure it is current and accurate across all functions and divisions as well as provide metrics to ensure the reviews are completed
  • Provide work direction and guidance to direct reports and divisional resources to assure completion of assigned tasks and other duties
  • Responsible for policy and procedure development reviews/improvements and facilitating procedure updates with process owners
  • Assure all company personnel are adequately trained in the principals, policies, and procedures of the configuration management system
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritize eBusiness projects and needs including but not limited to; IDoc communication between SAP and Legacy Systems/3rd Party Providers
  • Support Business Projects (including integrations, SAP roll outs, etc.) and driving the end to end data strategy for each project including sequencing, conversions, interfaces, cleansing, and deduplication
  • Drive process improvement; process excellence, and data quality
  • Provide operations with timely and accurate service
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Experience, Abilities and Education:

  • Strict adherence to process, approvals, and audit
  • Ability to grow senior data resources within the organization
  • Strong understanding of data relationships; master data vs. transactional
  • Supply Chain, Finance, or Information Technology Management experience
  • Ability to evolve the Enterprise Data from the interim state to the future vision
  • Experience in successfully communicating complex technical concepts, processes, and procedures to all levels of audiences from senior executives to end-users
  • Ability to work in/lead a team environment across a large and complex organization
  • Must be able to interpret data and perform math and statistical functions as it applies to the functions of the position
  • Ability to work with the business to develop a comprehensive Data Strategy, that enables the business to reach goals while returning high levels of value from an efficient use of investment
  • Ability to clearly and accurately define problems by collecting data/facts and the ability to develop and implement solutions to those problems
  • Drives continuous improvement
  • 8+ years experience effectively working with and implementing master data systems, processes and procedures across functions preferred
  • Experience managing a large organizations budget
  • SAP Implementation experience and/or acquisition integration experience preferred
  • Experience implementing automated work preferred


 Bachelor’s Degree Required

 Certification/Licensure Preferred for Job:

  • SAP Materials Management and SAP Production Planning & Control certification

Minimum Experience (number of years and type):

  • 8+ years SAP Master Data experience
  • 5+ years Leading an enterprise data organization

Travel Requirements:  

Occasional travel dependent on business needs (25% or less)
