The Lancaster Ready-to-Eat Cereal Plant, a TreeHouse Private Brands site, is currently looking for an Extrusion Operator to join our team.  This is an opportunity to join a recognized and growing company within the food manufacturing industry, where you will have a direct impact on our ability to safely deliver quality products at a competitive cost. We are offering a competitive compensation package for this position, including benefits (health, vision and dental) and 401(k).   The preliminary schedule will require working every weekend with two days off during the week. Openings are on 2nd or 3rd shift, working every weekend schedule.

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for supporting the extruding area, which is made up of Extruder Operators, Syrup/Peanut Butter Batching Operators, and Dryer/Smalley Operators. Depending on which systems are in process, the Extruder Operator may be responsible for assisting these other areas as needed. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring equipment for problems and malfunctions, collecting product for quality checks, completing required paperwork, maintaining proper raw material inventory, and cleaning equipment and surrounding area. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Single/Twin Extrusion

• Monitor extruders and other 4th floor equipment for problems and malfunctions
• Collect product for base density checks every half hour
• Log the extruder conditions and complete other required paperwork
• Maintain adequate dye, cocoa, and chip inventory
• Clean and maintain dye tanks, extruder dies, crimpers, and cutter knife blades
• Take byproduct to the unloading dock
• Maintain an acceptable level of sanitation in the area. This includes dust mopping the floor when appropriate and keeping all equipment free from dust.
• Communicate with 5th floor operators to minimize reject product and maximize feed rates. 

Batching

• Prepare syrup/peanut butter batches for each system in operation:  Hand-adds must be added per the ingredient cards in the batching area. 
• Order ingredients from unloading

Dryer/Smalley Operation

• Visually inspect and evaluate product for packaging
• Monitor dryer conditions and take appropriate actions with equipment malfunctions or problems
• Inspect product and collect densities and samples
• Monitor coating drums for buildup and clean them as needed
• Stage product on appropriate conveyors to send the product to the appropriate packing lines

Experience and Skills Requirements

• 3-5 years manufacturing related experience required
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices
• Fluency in English both verbal and written
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
