Job Description:

The Human Resources Generalist supports the Richmond Hill operations team and provides functional guidance to front line leadership. This position acts as an internal business partner, providing support in the areas of: employee relations, recruitment, training and development, workplace investigations, compensation, benefits, and HR planning.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs full cycle recruiting for designated departments including but not limited to: job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, background checks, offer letter generation, new employee orientation and other onboarding activities.
  • Conducts ongoing employee training in a variety of topics such as health and safety, performance management, and employee recognition.
  • Builds effective relationships with operational departments to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies.
  • Maintains a high level of visibility, accessibility and interaction with all employees on all shifts.
  • Ensures high level of integrity is maintained and that personnel matters are handled in a professional, consistent, and confidential manner.
  • Promotes a positive work environment for all employees through multiple channels including coordination of employee activities and events.
  • Administers employee Return to Work programs.
  • Provides counsel to supervisors and managers on performance management.
  • Assists with management of WSIB claims.
  • Supports the development, implementation and consistent application of human resources policies.
  • Assists and co-leads human resources projects at the plant level.
  • Responsible for timely communications of HR communications, programs and policies; presents human resources information at employee town hall meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday during office hours but also provide flexibility to meet the needs of a 24/7 business
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Experience in conducting employee investigations and provide appropriate follow-up as necessary
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees
  • Ability to work on multiple, complex projects simultaneously and see them to completion with minimal supervision
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience with writing reports, business correspondence and policies/procedures

Minimum Experience

  • 3 plus years of related Human Resources experience 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • CHRP certification preferred


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
