Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing Reliability & Maintenance Systems (RMS) leadership  along with developing, coordinating, and coaching the activities of the plant RMS team in all aspects of the equipment life cycle and RMS processes. 

  • This includes working with the Engineering team and OEM’s on a new plant startup, finalizing the set up the storeroom and maintenance shop, integrating the CMMS SAP system, and establishing a planning process. 
  • This role includes implementing methods to increase production and overall product quality through a robust RMS program.
  • The maintenance department consists of Production Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Scheduling and Parts rooms.
  • Utilize maintenance expertise and managing skills to oversee the RMS department personnel by training, directing, coordinating and evaluating maintenance resources and functions including safety, training, housekeeping (5S), employee development and equipment corrective and preventive maintenance.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership of the Reliability & Maintenance Systems and Department
  • Manage/implement CMMS SAP and 5S in Maintenance Areas
  • Maintain equipment though established effective preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and problem solving.
  • Drive and support Continuous Improvement program(s)
  • Provide maintenance resources to assist in achieving plant objectives
  • Working closely with the EHS & Quality teams, ensuring we maintain a human safe and food safe working environment and remain compliant with environmental regulations.
  • Maintain facility/production line condition, through established department SOPs, in order to meet established GMPs/HAACP and Food Safety Regulations and government requirements under FDA, OSHA, GMP, EPA, etc.
  • Monitor production line(s) metrics such as OEE,  prioritize and timely execution of corrective and preventive work based on line/equipment performance. 
  • Manages Maintenance Department spending. Help prepare and manage capital budgets – track RMS related budget accounts, spend against equipment, machinery supplies, outside services and maintenance labor.
  • Collaborate with Plant Leadership to assure production needs and changes can be met
  • Directs contractors and project team members and is responsible for implementing programs to ensure the quality of work meets all local, state, and governmental standards.
  • Provide direction to employees on installing and repairing equipment. This includes electrical, mechanical maintenance and other disciplines.
  • Develop and implement processes to monitor Quality and Quantity of work done by department team members. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

PLANNING PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Ensure that proven Maintenance Planning and Scheduling methods and techniques are used to maximize system availability, throughput, quality, safety, and environmental performance by reducing equipment repair time. Proven methods would include accurately documenting work orders so that work description, time estimates, and proper codes are captured in CMMS SAP.  Parts and tools required for the work are identified, ordered and available for the work.
  • Development of the weekly maintenance schedule in conjunction with appropriate Plant Functions i.e. Operations, Quality, EH&S, Maintenance, Engineering, etc,
  • Ensures that new equipment information, parts, PM’s, etc., is properly captured in CMMS SAP prior to start-up
  • Completes job plans with manpower scheduling and parts verification per company standards for:
    • Outages/Turnarounds
    • Equipment modifications
    • Standard Work
    • PMs and Condition Based Monitoring Inspections
    • Corrective Work
  • Manages the life of Notifications/Work Orders:
    • Uses feedback to update Standard Work
    • Monitors proper completion and return
    • Ensures correct closing codes are applied to completed work orders
  • Helps to maintain the equipment hierarchy in SAP
  • Ensures CMMS SAP data integrity is maintained by all RMS team members that use the system. 
  • Maintains accurate and up to date Work Order Backlogs

STOREROOM PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Establish effective inventory control program, including the review of minimum and economic order quantities, recommending improved storeroom procedures and layouts.
  • Purchase necessary MRO materials ensuring availability of parts and supplies.
  • Expedite incoming materials shipments as necessary and communicate closely with individuals awaiting receipts to prevent interference to plant operations.
  • Locating, sourcing, expediting critical repair parts and recommending satisfactory substitutes for unavailable materials and services.
  • Knowledge and ability to use ERP and/or CMMS systems which may include writing work orders, looking up work orders, finding parts and writing requisitions to order parts. 
  • CMMS oversight of accuracy and use of data; i.e. part inventory, part fields, etc.
  • Receive incoming maintenance and plant supplies and provide detailed documentation.
  • Lead or assist in cycle counting activities. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Excellent knowledge of Reliability fundamentals; i.e. Criticality, Centerlines, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Maintenance Planning, Storeroom Processes, Downtime Analysis, etc.
  • Familiarity with Lean methods and processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, OEM manuals, etc.  Ability to write Maintenance Standard Work, One Point Lessons, PM tasks, etc.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and employees.
  • Ability to understand, monitor, and adjust to the department spending, developing spending forecast, and oversight of budget. 
  • Proficient computer skills including:
    • MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Strong SAP PM & MM
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Able to handle multiple priorities
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, organize, and simplify
  • Working knowledge of technical condition-based monitoring tools, techniques & technologies
  • Proficient in CMMS maintenance systems; preferably SAP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • PLC knowledge; preferred

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Relevant Technical Field Preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERRED (Number of years and type):

  • Five to seven years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Maintenance/Reliability role in a manufacturing environment
  • Related work experience in storeroom and planning processes. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, problems-solving, leadership and quantitative skills.
  • Working knowledge of production equipment, preventative maintenance concepts, food safety practices, and employee safety requirements. 

Travel required:            5% (i.e. THS Manawa, WI Plant)
