Principle Duties and Responsibilities

All mechanics must communicate well with others, have a good mechanical aptitude, be self motivated, and be willing to cross train to learn other skills. All mechanics must be able to perform all physical functions of the job which includes but is not limited to walking, crawling, entering confined spaces, climbing, kneeling, bending twisting, reaching, grasping, pulling and must be able to stand on their feet and work for extended periods of time while carrying a tool pouch, must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, (must be able to reach overhead min of 2% of the time while holding 5 pounds). All mechanics must be able to work safely with all manner of hand tools and shop equipment including but not limited to core drills, drill presses, saws, torches, welders, and fork lifts. All mechanics must be able to work safely around low and high voltages ranging from 0 to 480 volts. All mechanics must be able to troubleshoot, repair and install a wide range of cooking, packaging and other equipment. Electricians must be able to read electrical blue prints, run conduit and be familiar with PLCs. For electricians ability to program PLC’s preferred. All mechanics must follow all company and OSHA safety and PPE rules, policies and guidelines.  All mechanics must be able to perform building and yard maintenance and all other duties as assigned. Notify Group Manager of any suspicious personnel or incidents occurring that relate to plant security. Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system. Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system. Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. Inform Line Manager, Group Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Training and cross training on production equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work place.
  • Process daily reports and communicate information to proper personnel.

SCOPE DATA:  Must work with little supervision.  Makes decisions based upon good judgment and knowledge of the process.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP:  This position works independently, with little supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   This position is in both climate controlled and uncontrolled factory setting.  Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 100 pounds is required. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education:    

High School diploma or GED required.  Technical training preferred.

For electrician 2 year certificate, A.S.  or if no degree, 15 years min. working as an electrician required.

Skills:

Must have at least 3 year of on the job maintenance experience.

Electricians must have 3 years’ experience with degree 5 years preferred.

Must have a min. of 15 years’ experience without degree.

Must get along well with others and have a good mechanical aptitude.

Must be willing to continue to learn or cross train and be self-motivated.

Prefer someone that has worked in a food plant or with packaging equipment.

Must be able to climb ladders, crawl under equipment, and at times lift up to 75 pounds.

Must be able to work overtime and any shift as needed.

Must have own hand tools.
