Job Description:

The Commercial Learning and Development Manager, is responsible for the creation and delivery of bespoke educational programs.  Designed with commercial organization leadership, management, and customer-facing (sales) teams in mind, the intention is to expand on the talents and skills across all commercial employees at all levels within the organization.  The Commercial Learning and Development Manager will apply Adult Learning Principles (ALPs) to Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate (ADDIE) and maintain the highest quality of learning and development materials for eLearning programs, instructor led content, virtual classroom design, tool kits, facilitator/participant guides and leadership support aids using standardized instructional design methodology.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead facilitator for Commercial Learning and Development functional expertise
  • Create and deliver “customer experience” (sales) model and education that support an effective and motivated customer-facing team​ to achieve accelerated revenue growth
  • Create and deliver “new hire onboarding” and “initial sales training” educational platform designed to close initial commercial organizational learning gaps and narrow the timeframe to active best in class commercial excellence through a customer-centric approach
  • Develop learning and development training metrics, assessments, and evaluations to consistently deliver ROI and improve training effectiveness
  • Standardizes design of educational approach, templates, formats and content delivery through ALPs and the ADDIE model as it pertains to customer facing (sales) expertise​
  • Implementation and curation of Learning Management System (i.e. Alchemy) along with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform as it relates to training delivery
  • Execute the development and implementation of learning programs and deliverables such as eLearning programs, instructor led content, virtual classroom design, tool kits, facilitator/participant guides and leadership support aids, or other training medium using various software
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of appropriate instructional design tools and resources used to develop and train content including MS PowerPoint, Prezi, Captivate, Articulate, Storyline, Camtasia, Alchemy LMS, SnagIt, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
  • Education curation: review existing courses for relevancy, quality, consistency and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to implement revisions and updates as appropriate​
  • Establish strong internal network within the enterprise and the commercial organization to best align customer-facing (sales) commercial educational, learning, and development needs
  • Monitor learning and development functional trends along with CPG industry trends and present recommendations for on-demand education, including topics of interest and innovative delivery methods​ including eLearning, tutorial sessions and coaching
  • Write scripts and talking points for eLearining modules and videos.  Write supporting materials for learning activities such as agendas, schedules, quick reference guides, FAQs, handouts, job aids, trainer and participant guides.  Incorporate graphics, video, or photography to support course development.  Responsible for technical quality and function of all coursework.

Qualifications & Requirements:

This role requires an individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills whose primary focus is to help guide the commercial organization on their learning and development journey. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Commercial Business, Sales or related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive instructional design, sales training, and/or commercial learning and development experience.
  • Proven understanding of Adult Learning Principles and the ADDIE Model or similar background.
  • Proven standard of excellence with interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strategic orientation, strong leadership, and influencing skills with executive presence.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills necessary to communicate critical business learning and development needs and establish effective metrics to measure success.
  • Experience in leading large-scale education/change efforts.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment to align learning and development needs with commercial strategy.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Advanced level computer skills including MS PowerPoint, Prezi, Captivate, Articulate, Storyline, Camtasia, SnagIt, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.  and designated Learning Management System (LMS) Alchemy.  LMS and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform understanding will be essential to cross delivery of remote training.
