Summary/Objective:  The Mixing Operator position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the preparation and mixing an array of finished doughs.  This position uses a standardized process to accurately combine ingredients in a mixer to produce quality doughs per recipe instructions.

Understand all aspects and layout of operating the mixer(s) on the assigned line. Run production properly according to the applicable schedule to mix the correct dough for the process.  Obtain recipe sheets and mix dough(s) applicable to the assigned line(s). Weigh, dump, and add by hand raw ingredients required to make the appropriate dough(s) or other mixes. Complete and understand the mixing report in a timely and accurate manner.  Properly record all information such as date, name, ingredient, amounts, lot, manifold numbers, etc. Manage the inventory control system appropriately. Operate either a walk-behind hand dolly or dough dolly to move ingredients in troughs from one work area to another, including the mezzanine if necessary.  If necessary to use powered industrial equipment, the employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate powered equipment or aerial lift certification to do so immediately. The employee must possess a basic understanding of math and a knowledge of measurements associated with reading a measuring instrument.  Must understand basics of scale operations and weights. Accurately record JDE lot numbers, pallet ID numbers, and manifold numbers on mixing report for raw ingredients. Understand the layout of the Proof Room and of the assigned mixing equipment. Perform visual inspections of raw materials and of products produced, including maintaining proper level in the lay-time conveyor, and notify management when an issue or concern is first noted. Operate mixing equipment including, but not limited to:  all panel view screens, steam and chilled water jackets, scales, and DSI scanners. Must be able to train other team members on process/machinery as necessary. Understand, observe and comply with the handling/usage of color-coded container policy. Maintain clean work environment and prepare work area for following shift personnel. Possess thorough understanding of all company policies, including GMPs and safety policies. Communicate effectively with other departments, managers, and other employees. Immediately notify maintenance, line operations or supervision of any repairs or adjustments required. The employee may have to arrive earlier/later than normal when start-ups or changeovers to different products occur.  Check schedule regularly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, holding, gripping, reaching, pulling, stooping, extensive bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, extensive wrist movements, and climbing all day. Work can be performed in extreme heat and cold environments. Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and handle product appropriately. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50 pounds above shoulder level. The employee must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language. The employee must work safely at all times and follow all OSHA (safety) guidelines.

Food Quality, Safety and Security:    The employee initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality or safety system.  The employee stops production, if necessary, to correct food safety issues, quality issues, or safety problems.  The employee identifies and records any problems relating to food safety, quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety system.  The employee controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of food safety or quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.  The employee informs line supervisor, production manager, QA manager, or other management personnel of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, heat, cold, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full­-time position, with rotating days off lasting a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours in most circumstances.  The employee must be able to work overtime when required.

Travel:  No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:   High school diploma/GED is required.

Preferred Education and Experience:   Two+ years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
