3 PM - 11 PM

Work: Monday through Friday and overtime on Saturday when scheduled.

Job Summary:

Produces product by mixing raw materials and manually or automatically transporting the dough to the conveyor lines.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports to the Production Supervisor. This position receives general supervision and works according to standards.

 Essential Tasks:

Ensures that production standards are met by:

Transporting dough from mixer and hoisting above shoulders into hoppers.

Enters request into computer for a mix when dough table has depleted according to set standards.

Filling old dough tank.

Making malt and yeast as necessary by combining bags of malt and/or yeast with water blend, checking temperature, and recording numbers according to procedure.

Checking mixer, conveyor belts, and automated/manual delivery systems to detect and correct problems and malfunctions in areas such as the mixer, conveyor belts, dough bot, loaf cutter, and electronic eyes according to procedures. Listening for alarms and/or lasers to detect problems.

Perform routine procedures to ensure systems run properly such as cleaning of blades, cleaning of electronic eyes and replacement of waste hoppers.

Maintains specifications by observing operations and:

Inspecting for out of specification product and taking action to remove misshapen pretzels, holes and ensure pretzel rods are forming straight.

Performing weight checks, checking and recording dough temperatures, checking and adjusting cutter speeds, collecting test samples, and adjusting extruder speed.

Checking to ensure that mixes are weighing properly.

Resolving production problems by adjusting processes to meet specifications; and communicating with oven room supervisor to resolve issues or obtain maintenance for mechanical assistance.

Performs sanitation duties according to daily, shift or shutdown schedule to include wiping down tanks, hosing down equipment with hot water, brushing off extruders, sweeping and moping floors, sweeping mezzanine floors, scraping rollers on conveyors, cleaning drains, pushing and emptying bins/ barrels and pushing equipment to cleaning area.

Ensures good manufacturing procedures by following housekeeping standards.

Ensures efficient and quality production and positive employee relations by complying with all employment policies, rules, regulations, safety procedures, good manufacturing procedures, product protection standards and actively participating in all training requirements.

Additional Tasks:  Contributes to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed. Maintains cooperative relationship with co-workers and management by communicating necessary information, responding to requests, building rapport; and participating in problem solving methods.

Job Qualifications

Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multitask and keep up with multiple fast-paced conveyor lines.
  • Basic math and measuring ability.
  • Mental alertness to identify and react to machine process, quality issues and safety issues such as lock out/tag out.
  • Ability to comprehend written and oral communication and apply commonsense understanding to carry out and follow instructions and standard procedures.
  • Ability to read production orders, controls, machine specifications and identify numbers.
  • Ability to use computers.
  • Ability to communicate information one-on-one and in small group situations.

  • Ability to work required shift, meet attendance requirements, and work overtime when required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with the exception of breaks when employee can sit down.
  • Ability to walk short distances in and around mixing/conveyor area. 
  • Must be able to climb up to7ft. conveyor height and 14 ft. mezzanine by using ladder.
  • Ability to stoop under 3ft. high conveyor belt.
  •  Ability to reach across conveyor belt to retrieve product.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs. to transport malt, dough, and yeast.
  • Ability to push 600-700lbs. barrels on wheels and 200-300lbs. parts distances of 100ft. to 100 yards. Two employees will be used to move heavy parts over 50lbs. for cleaning.
  • Ability to work in wet humid area when cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to tolerate smell of yeast.
  • Ability to have attention to detail to visually inspect product.
