Job Description:

This position is responsible for supporting the facility in engineering and PLC programing needs.  Projects will cover a diverse range in both scope and engineering discipline.  This position will also develop and implement cost effective process changes and improvements in accordance with product specifications and manufacturing standards.  This position will be required to have a strong understanding of PLC programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with capital projects including equipment and facility upgrades, new product manufacturing, capacity expansion, manufacturing re-deployment, food safety technologies and distribution expansion.
  • Electrical skills on the following technologies: PLCs: AB, Siemens, Pico, Micro, CompactLogix, SLC500, ControLogix, Guardlogix and PLC-5
  • Develops new Processes and Control Systems to support current and future business needs. Actively supports efforts to build operational discipline through setting high standards, engagement and strong leadership.
  • Originates concepts for new or improved production systems and/or facilities, automatic and computer control systems, processing and service equipment and material handling systems.
  • Defines present and future production/service equipment and facility requirements based on existing sales volumes, projected short and long term sales forecasts and existing equipment/facilities capacities
  • Performs and/or provides training for supervision, production and maintenance personnel on proper operating procedures, safety considerations and devices and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinates and directs installation of equipment and services with equipment suppliers, service contractors, production and maintenance personnel.
  • Provides maintenance assistance when required due to complexity of equipment or request from maintenance personnel.  
  • Maintains project information files and equipment/service supplier files
  • Highly skilled electrical troubleshooting of plc’s, servo’s, and safety relays for bad components or faulty wiring.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical print interpretation (European, American, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of switchboards, MCC’s, panel boards, control cabinets.
  • Responsible for complying with all Food Quality, Food Safety/SQF, and GMP policies and procedures.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (List all required):

  • Recognized skills in Engineering and Maintenance
  • Knowledge, understanding, and passion for continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the cost drivers in Maintenance and manufacturing operations
  • Good working knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP) with the ability to analyze data for trends/reports
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; strong presentation skills
  • The ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including directors, managers and subject matter experts.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct resources and teams.

Education:

 Associate Degree - Engineering

Minimum Experience Preferred (Number of years and type):

Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred but not required. 

1-2 years experience preferred but not required.

Aseptic Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
