Role Summary: The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible to provide electrical controls support to improve production on the Manawa campus. Including weight management systems, equipment controls (PLC), and PC interfaces with equipment and other systems.  This role will also be responsible to lead/execute improvement projects, some of which will be capital. 

Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience is required
  • Experience with the following types of machines is preferred:  Transferring of powders and/or dry ingredients, filling, cartoning, case packing, palletizing, robots
  • Experience with plant data systems for:  Downtime tracking, weight tracking, OEE, etc
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal Electrical Code
  • Extensive PLC & HMI programming skills required
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • PLCs:  AB, Siemens, Pico, Mico, CompactLogix, Siemens, etc.
    • Servo’s:  Ultra, Kinetix, etc.
    • Networks:  Ethernet/IP, Sercos, DH-485, DH+, and Remote I/O
    • Safety Devices:  Guard I/O, Safety Relays
    • Drives:  160, 1305, 1336, PF4, PF40, PF70, PF520, PF700, etc.
    • Software: RSLinks, DriveExecutive, RSLogix5, RSLogix500, PanelBuilder32, FactoryTalk View, Asset Center, BOOTP-DHCP Server, etc.
  • Inter-Machine Communications
  • Oversee calibration requirements.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct resources and teams.
  • Project Engineering/Management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for electrical, automation, systems, and network focusing on maintaining and improving existing platforms implemented in the Manawa Locations
  • Lead incremental improvement to existing assets, technologies, and daily support to the plant
  • Improve existing Processes and Control Systems to support current and future business needs
  • Ability to modify, change, or create new programs for PLC’s and HMI’s for new installations and/or modifications to existing technology.
  • Originate concepts for new or improved production systems and/or facilitates automatic and computer control systems, processing and service manufacturing equipment
  • Work closely with Corporate Engineering team on electrical and automation integration and requirements for post project plant support. 
  • Define present and future equipment, technology, and facility requirements based on existing business needs, capacities, and projected growth and/or expansion
  • Develop project concepts into quantitative and qualitative proposals consisting of scope and specifications, layouts, schematics, resource requirements, risk, etc.
  • Perform and/or provide training where applicable
  • Design electrical systems including control wiring, computer applications and programs and emergency controls
  • Design system integration assuring required communications and interfacing of inter-related areas
  • Identify and implement technologies for monitoring and trending electrical systems and components for predictive and preventive maintenance
  • Coordinate and direct installation of equipment and services with equipment suppliers, service contractors, production and maintenance personnel
  • Provide maintenance assistance when required due to complexity of equipment or request from maintenance personnel
  • Lead identifying the skill training needs and plan for the E&ATs and electrical skills of technicians
  • Lead Root-Cause-Analysis for electrical related failures
  • Participate in Kaizen events
  • Effectively communicate across all levels at Treehouse

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and 5-10 years of relevant industry experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Advanced math skills.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or listen.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit; use hands to handle documents and tools.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
