Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain & update current and new FDA filings online
  • Conduct Daily Records Reviews to ensure accuracy in regard to thermal processing.
  • Troubleshoots problems and implements corrective actions through root cause analysis.
  • Conducts Consumer Complaint investigations and works with FS&Q Manager on responses.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and preventative maintenance, calibration, repairs and maintenance are completed on all thermal process equipment.
  • Monitor all critical aspects of production to ensure compliance with federal regulations. To include record review of thermal process documents for the San Antonio plant.
  • Ensure instrumentation is up to date with calibration and is in good working order.
  • Lead continuous education and training for plant personnel. (records, accountability, etc.
  • Reduce the number of process deviations or the amount of product affected when a deviation occurs.
  • Assist with customer and regulatory audits.
  • Liaise between Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Assist with quality investigations by working with QA, Regulatory Affairs and Product Development.
  • Assist with all new equipment/line installation, validation, documentation and maintenance.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A thorough understanding of processing theory and concept.
  • Knowledge of microbial risks
  • An understanding of Product and Packaging characteristics and interactions
  • Critical Factors (raw material handling, storage, sanitation, batching, filling, packaging, warehousing, transport and storage)
  • Equipment and manufacturing procedures and their effects on the delivery of a thermal process
  • A broad knowledge of the manufacturing business
  • Ability to lead Operations, Product Development, and Quality in delivering improved and consistent operating performance and results.

Education:

  •  High School or equivalent
  •  High School plus specialized training (min 6mos-2yrs)
  •  Associate Degree
  •   Bachelor’s Degree Required
  •  Master’s Degree
  •  Certification/Licensure Required for Job:
  • Minimum Experience Preferred: Three to five years’ experience with thermal processing in a food manufacturing environment. 

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Employee must have knowledge of Analytical and Sensory Testing, Good Manufacturing Practices, Environmental Monitoring, Chemical Handling, Audits, and Inspections. 
  • Must possess the ability to coach and train on Food Safety related programs.
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation in food manufacturing is desired.
  • HACCP Certified, SQF practitioner certification and Better Process Control is desired.
  • Competent computer skills; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP, are preferred; and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Must be self-starting. Strategic agility and process management skills needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast pace, multitask environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and decision-making abilities combined with excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. Effective listener and team player.
  • Must be flexible for adjusting work schedule based on business needs. Some weekend work required.
  • Able to work effectively with others, have good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead multiple projects. 
  • This position requires the employee to be able to read, write, and communicate orally in English. 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be able to work with and to support other departments: Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, R & D, Procurement, etc.
  • Analyze complex information and perform root cause analysis
  • Effectively manage time, including the ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining quality & accuracy standards
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook on an Advanced Level
  • SAP knowledge on an intermediate to advanced level
