Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Description:

Position Summary: Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of quality during the production shift. They will work closely with and communicate to operations, ensuring all finished products meet specifications and customer expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading role in ensuring a safety-first culture through actively supporting the site’s health and safety program and ensuring health and safety is a top priority
  • Release product in ERP system (e.g. SAP) as required
  • Review finished product micro results, verify results and send all releases to 3PL as required
  • Review records including lab test results for water, air quality, environmental pathogen monitoring, and sanitation effectiveness. Ensure any non-conformance is addressed on a timely manner  
  • Create CCP records for all meat products
  • Ensure effective scheduling of QA/QC team on a timely manner
  • Review hourly timesheets and approving hours for all permanent and temporary employees
  • Prepare monthly sanitation scorecard and send on a timely manner
  • Directly supervise a team of Quality Control Technicians and complete annual evaluation for all QC personnel as required
  • Ensure QC team’s compliance with procedures, policies and job site specific regulations and address non-conformance with QC personnel following disciplinary actions accordingly on a timely manner
  • Conduct GMP inspections and communicate findings to plant management  
  • Provide assistance to Department Manager and Human Resources in investigating NCRs
  • Assist in Lean Manufacturing process improvements
  • Monitor the ongoing standards in food quality and safety and provide recommendations in updating company’s food quality and safety programs as required
  • Timely and accurate submission of correspondence and reports
  • Assisting with customer complaint investigation
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles and government regulations required
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing practices
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience conducting training
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented, analytical, organized
  • Aseptic processing and packaging experience is an asset
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Education:

 High School or equivalent

 High School plus specialized training

 Associate Degree

Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or other related science discipline;

 Master’s Degree Required -- Type:

 Certification/Licensure Required for Job:

Minimum Experience Preferred (Number of years and type):

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in a food manufacturing environment
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience is an asset

Travel Requirements:

Less than 10%
