Position Purpose:

In short, the QA Manager must be aware and demonstrate knowledge in all aspects of his/her responsibilities and the duties of his/her team.  Must Ensure efficient production and compliance with all Company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Trains and develops Q/A staff Sanitation.
    • Insures that the entire facility is familiar with and trained in Q/A and Food Safety standards.
    • Assure compliance and knowledge of all customer requirements.
  • Demonstrates
    • Assures a safe product for human consumption.
  • Assures that every product meets quality expectations, food safety requirements and client specifications.
  • Develops and administers QA and Food Safety processes and procedures, including incoming raw material inspection, vendor qualification/inspections and HACCP programs.
  • Establishes standards and specifications where needed from research and testing.
  • Assures Good Manufacturing Practices throughout the facility (GMP’s).
  • Directs integrated pest management program.
  • Develop quality sample program of “go/no go” standards and visual representations of these samples.
  • Define sampling frequencies.
  • Develop, define, and implement TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT.
  • Develop and publish quality information needed for company awareness.
  • Develops Statistical Process Control (SPC) Charts and effective feedback to all employees, Supervisors, and Managers.
  • Insures maintenance of the M.S.D.S. Program.
  • Lead by example in the following:
    • Performing and analyzing product samples   
    • Sampling and monitoring ingredients
    • Critically analyzing finished product for flavor, texture, appearance, and packaging, and communicate results to insure adjustments
    • Maintaining accurate and thorough Q/A records
    • Monitoring the calibration of equipment, process control instruments, and food safety devices

Key Competencies

Demonstrated ability, strong interpersonal communication skills

Ability to analyze and interpret data, ability to present complex data to all levels of people and insure understanding, and knowledge of testing/analysis in the following: pH, titration, salt content, granulation, oil quality, fat and moisture, and a thorough understanding of lab safety requirements.
