Job Description:

Job Description: This position is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Sanitation function as well as oversight and guidance for all Sanitation practices to ensure compliance with quality, safety and Good Manufacturing Practices. Supervises approximately 20 hourly team members. Fosters and promotes continuous improvement and a positive work environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:
 Contribute daily to reducing safety risks and reaching the established TIR rate for facility. Participate actively in all safety initiatives including behavior based programs, Leadership and Safety Committee Audits, the Safety Committee and Safety Tracer tracking.
 Proactively prepare for food safety audits and maintain an environment that is safe, sanitary, perceptually attractive and orderly. Participate in audit processes and audit tours. Maintain an on-going audit preparation process for customer and BRC (or equivalent) audits. Ensure Sanitation documentation and facility sanitation are at a level which is “audit ready at all times”.
 Assist in evaluating new and modified equipment for sanitary design.
 Conduct ongoing training of sanitation employees and ensure use of industry best practices.
 Provides training to non-sanitation personnel in sanitation matters on an as-needed basis.
 Meet weekly with each of the sanitation areas to promote communication and deliver toolbox messages on safety, food safety issues, and company policies/procedures.
 Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly facility sanitation in all buildings.
 Contribute to cost reduction idea creation and project development – monitor and report monthly on results.
 Lead efforts to improve wash procedures and paperwork related to washes/facility cleaning.
 Actively participate in Lean initiatives and fulfill program requirements on schedule – participate as 5S auditor and sustain 5S processes in assigned areas.
 Work with corporate sanitation leadership, chemical vendors and QA to reduce risks related to environmental biological concerns and pest control.
 Review and initial all MSS cleaning sheets for bays and warehouses. Work with sanitation leadership to create and maintain sanitation documentation including MSS and SSOP material.
 Guide/coach/develop subordinates in a worker-friendly team environment that rewards performance with respect and trust. Maintain records related to training and personnel issues.
 Set and maintain chemical and labor budgets for Sanitation, sets up, documents, and maintains master sanitation schedule, performs, reads results, and documents swab tests of plant equipment, performs time work for department hours
 Tracks and ensures appropriate levels of chemicals are available.
 Schedule and meet with external vendors as needed/maintain high knowledge of sanitation processes.

Skills, Experience and Education:
 Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization using both verbal and written formats.
 Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction
 Ability to develop projects and establish priorities.
 Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
 Solid computer skills including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Education: High School or equivalent High School plus specialized training (min 6mos-2yrs) Associate Degree - Required Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Certification/Licensure Required for Job: NA

Minimum Experience Preferred (Number of years and type): 3 years related experience in a food manufacturing environment. Previous supervisory experience highly desired.
