Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager of Engineering (and their team if assigned one) plays an integral role within Supply Chain leadership, and is accountable for the overall technical health of the facilities in their charge. Some of the major planks of their scope of work would be inclusive of but are not limited to: driving improvement in reliability, increasing product/plant capacity and capabilities, reducing cost to manufacture, and delivering against the organization’s sustainability targets. These objectives will be executed via capital and non-capital means. With respect to the capital enabled work, the Sr. Manager will be expected to plan and coordinate single and multiple large and high complexity capital projects, that often require inter-disciplinary engineering teams consisting of engineers and cross functional business partners.  They will be accountable for all aspects of scope development, cost estimates and schedule by collaborating both within the engineering organization as well as with cross functional business partners. This position requires management of both external and internal resources and influencing cross functional stakeholders as well as effectively resolving issues and managing conflict. 

Position Responsibilities:

This person will be for the plants they are assigned and serve…..:

  • ..responsible for multiple locations and requires in-depth understanding of the business side of a “Food Company” as well as the ability to effectively communicate with and lead cross functional resources.
  • ..the direct manager for internal and external engineering employees, and accountable for their results. In addition, they will have a vested interest in their on-going professional development.
  • ..accountable for insuring the cost reduction and sustainability objectives are delivered.
  • ..accountable for effective capex/EOC ( expense on capital) planning, stewardship and execution. This is inclusive of ensuring cash flow targets are well planned and delivered against.
  • ..charged with the development of and maintaining an accurate three-year investment strategy.
  • ..an extension of the leadership team, for the plant(s).

Additionally, the Sr. Manager of Engineering…

  • …will be expected to manage multiple large initiatives simultaneously.
  • …will develop Business Case Screening scopes and estimates to give the business and Supply Chain leadership a directional view of a project and the robustness of the business case
  • …will be responsible for ensuring that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all projects are delivered within cost, schedule and performance success criteria.
  • …will represent Treehouse Foods in external communications inclusive of but not limited to, equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, local / state / federal government agencies, and co-manufacturing organizations.
  • …is recognized as a Technical Leader and an expert in project and initiative management and has demonstrated significant accomplishments and contributions to meet business initiatives.
  • …will reviews Technical Briefs providing technical guidance to project team
  • …must understand sanitary design best practices

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BS in an Engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of Project Management experience that includes successfully managing several $5M – $7MM + capital projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving substantive improvement in key KPI’s such as cost reduction, reliability, and material loss reduction.
  • Must have a strong record of developing talent directly and/or through influence.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of technology employed in the food and how the application of the technologies impacts their stakeholders.
  • Progressive plant leadership responsibilities a plus.
  • Formal project management training or certifications are also a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Engineering Degree
