Job Description:

Independently leads the design, planning, validation, and implementation of new products, line extensions, product improvements, and technical service with pace for strategic customers.  Provide technical expertise and leadership on cross-functional project teams, including technical oversight of internal and external manufacturing startups.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working independently, leads the product development, documentation management, project management and commercialization initiatives for strategic customers
  • Work directly with customers to support and drive the business objectives
  • Independently formulate and execute development from bench to production scale for new products and product improvements
  • Create new prototypes for product development initiatives, and identify and approve potential ingredient and manufacturing suppliers
  • Create and influence project direction by providing technical input through the planning and decision-making process
  • Identify opportunities for competitive market advantage
  • Provide judgment and experience to assure that an appropriate level of technical common sense and discipline are being employed and utilized in business decisions
  • Contribute significantly, directly, and continually to the attainment of results through the generation and application of advanced, specialized knowledge
  • Understand product requirements and plant equipment and processes to enable the creation of detailed playbooks and specifications
  • Look for ways to enhance the current commercialization process through previous experience and technical savvy
  • Identify and develop research programs to exploit an emerging technology for significant business results, driving them to implementation
  • Identify and develop research programs to drive cost optimization through formulation and processing efficiencies
  • Identifies problems and drives cross functional exploration to determine root cause with a focus on developing corrective action.  Applies corrective action to future projects to reduce repeat problem resurrection
  • Mentor less senior associates, often with the opportunity for direct reporting structure

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Five years’ experience in Food Product Development
  • Understanding of ingredient interactions/functionality
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Aptitude for technical leadership and project management
  • Effectively work cross-functionally throughout the organization, including vertically and horizontally.

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required: Food Science/Engineering or related field. Master's Degree preferred: Food Science or related field.
