Job Description:

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for creating, reviewing and maintaining training materials used with the TWI program as well providing hands on training for new employees.


  • Act as project manager and coordinate training across shift(s) for all individuals in some phase of training.  (Within dept.)
  • Act as subject matter expert using full TWI methodology with special emphasis on JI – Job Instructions.  Educate others as needed on TWI.
  • Oversee, create, update and review training content.  (JIBs and other training tools and feedback tools.)
  • Schedule and perform new hire training using TWI methods for ALL specific training in the bays, utilizing hands-on and adult learning concepts.  Coordinate training with line TWI coaches at training transition points. (Includes new hire training and re training current employees.)
  • Evaluate trainee performance, communicate to trainee and supervisor.  Complete training documentation on trainee and ensure trainee gets evaluation form of trainer.  Review trainer evaluations looking for trends to adjust JIBs and preparation of TWI Trainers and TWI line coaches.
  • Stay current with One Point Lessons and Standard Work active in the department.  Identify standard work that is not meeting needs then initiate updates or pass along for updates.
  • Partner with Standard Work Champion or perform dual role as Standard Work Champion.
  • Perform self-evaluation as a TWI trainer and share constructive feedback to other TWI trainers and line TWI coaches. Adjust training instruction to increase performance and learning.
  • Work in production role when not training

Ability to read in English and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.  Ability to create and edit technical documents.  Strong writing and vocabulary skills.  Ability to effectively communicate with employees orally and in writing.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, including decimals and fractions.  Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules computer scanning devices, adjustable measuring instruments.  Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation requires basic skills knowledge.   Proficient in using computer for basic data entry


 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.  Demonstrate ability to solve problems, analyze systems and data and suggest appropriate solutions. Possess skills to work under stress to meet production deadlines and minute attention to detail. Highly self-motivated individual.

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).  Desire to learn and willingness to accept responsibility. Prefer 12 months and up to and including 3 years of qualifying machine operator experience on related work or including lower level jobs within or outside the company. Prefer 6 months up to 1 year of employee on the job coaching/training experience.
